Wirrealpa Station, established in 1856, by John and James Chambers is a 1500sq km, family run sheep and cattle property situated on the east side of the Flinders Ranges, 35km from Blinman on the Blinman/ Arkaroola Road. It is centrally located between Wilpena Pound, Blinman and Arkaroola.
We offer three different types of accommodation. The Shearer’s Quarters, which are the original stone buildings, sleeps 22 people in nine separate bedrooms. The Quarters lends itself to bigger family groups and offers an authentic outback accommodation experience. The Cottage which is a 60 year old “Overseers Cottage” and sleeps five people is ideal for couples and “Mum and Dad’s” house, which offers a more “up-market” experience, having internet access, TV and dishwasher, sleeps 6 people.
Guests have exclusive use of several 4×4 tracks on the property which let them appreciate the vastness of the plains as well as the intimacy of the hills, while seeing the different colours of the country at different times of the day.
Wirrealpa has several significant geological areas while also having an abundance of different bird species. We are also involved in a land rehabilitation program called EMU™, which is land management program.
We have a substantial air-strip and welcome “fly-in” guests, who may wish to stay overnight on the way to destinations such as Lake Eyre or stay for a couple of nights to see more of the Flinders.
